Sarasota Golf Communities – Sarasota Country Clubs

Searching for Sarasota golf communities? This site contains information on Sarasota country clubs as well as those in neighboring counties.

Sarasota Country Clubs

Some of the more popular real estate options in the Sarasota Florida Area are without a doubt the gated golf and country club communities. Within a 45 minute drive of the downtown area you can find more than 100 separate courses that range from short 9’s to courses like the one at The Concession where many PGA pros practice.

Golf course communities are very popular with retirees that come to Florida during the winter months for obvious reasons, nearly every winters day is a great day for golf in Florida. There is nothing better to occupy your free time than to enjoy a round of golf with your friends and neighbors. The luxury of being able to drive your golf cart from you home to the 1st tee box removes any inconvenience associated with playing the sport. Perhaps the only challenge you will encounter will be getting the tee time you want, you may need to wait an additional 20 minutes.

Another facet to country club living that is important to many is the social aspects provided by being a member of the club. Large country clubs have an abundance of social activities and recreational venues for members that do not involve the golf course. Dinner socials are always a big hit as are the many parties and festivals the clubs schedule throughout the year. Some of the best tennis courts in Sarasota are included in the list of amenities offered by the clubs as are swilling pools, croquet fields, athletic centers, fitness classes and a host of other smaller amenities that are to numerous to list.

In addition to the grandiose clubs at the heart of many of these communities, the Sarasota real estate offerings within the gates can be simply stunning. The University Park Country Club has seen its community win the National Association of Home Builders “Best Community Design in America” award, a very prestigious designation indeed.

The Sarasota golf communities that prove to be the most popular with second home buyers are those that offer large tracts of maintenance free residences. With many of these homes being occupied only 6 months out of the year, maintenance is a big concern for the owners while they are away. Having the luxury of maintenance free ownership removes this concern and allows the owners of these residents to be at peace while residing in their northern residence.

Of all the country club choices that are available in the Sarasota area, I currently feature information on 14 of what I feel are the best gated country clubs in Sarasota and the surrounding area on my website. I have paid special attention to include clubs that offer various membership and lifestyle choices so that the needs and requirements of any discerning buyer are represented. Some deliver the classic country club pomp and circumstance in communities where membership is optional, others are bundled communities that include membership dues with the HOA fees and these membership obligations are mandatory if you live in the development.

I have also included clubs that span all price ranges so almost every buyer budget is represented. Unfortunately for many out of town buyers they are shocked at what some of the membership fees are. With Florida being the golf capital of the world and our courses needing to be maintained 365 days a year, this additional maintenance drives up the cost of monthly dues. Keep in mind that many golf courses in northern states lie dormant six months a year, ours do not. This doubles the maintenance costs and work load for the greens keepers and unfortunately those costs are passed down to the general membership.

Despite these higher membership fees one thing is for certain, our courses are some of the most beautiful and well manicured courses in the world and any round will certainly be any enjoyable… Unless of course your swing is off that day and the water hazards have been magnetized to catch every Titleist Pro V1 ball that flies within their vicinity.

If you are interested in discovering what the membership options are and what the associated fees are for each community, you can find this information by following this link to my Sarasota golf communities web page.
